Manipal: As a part of the continuing tradition for the last four years, this year too a book festival was held at KMC greens from 5th-9th April, in the midst of the ‘Utsav’ celebrations. This book fest was the brainchild of a company named Konkan Graphics Pvt. Limited and targeted mainly the student community of Manipal.

There were books for everyone and on everything ranging from kindergarten books to serious fiction, from books on spirituality to books on music. The company is basically based in Udupi but they have stores in Manipal and around Udupi. “We have an idea of what sort of books people like so we stack as per as readers’ demands,” says Akhil Kumar, one of the employees of the company.

The fest is organised at the time of Utsav so that there is a generous influx of crowd. The other attraction of this fest is the pricing of the books. The readers can buy their favourite books at a very reasonable price which would otherwise have cost them a fortune.

“I think it wasn’t that great. It wasn’t a fest at all – more like a stall,” said Palash Gupta, a first year MIT student.
