Manipal: Voice modulation, diction and acting left the entire crowd at KMC Greens rolling with laughter. The dramatics events of Utsav were spontaneous and hilarious. Mime set the mood for the dramatics events. The participants were given the theme only one day in advance. People were tumbling with laughter as the participants acted out funny gestures. After mime was the more serious event of Street Play. Themes for the street play were corruption, rural development, every child is special, etc. Teams tried to communicate many such complex messages by their actions, the dialogues and narration of the street plays was very power packed. Participants used popular songs to bring more appeal to their street plays.

The Mimicry competition saw students displaying their talents in stand up comedy. People mocked the many popular movie stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Om Puri, Amrish Puri et al. These mimicry artists put their characters in peculiar situations as well. The competition was immense and the crowd was highly amused by these performances. Mimicry was won by Rajesh Kumar of MCOPS.

Utsav 2008 ended with Mad Ads. Although, this was a dramatics event, a huge crowd came to see this event. The participants were given an hour to prepare. Products like washing machine, laptop, chewing gum, ear buds, were given to the participants. Students were highly creative as they mocked many favorite ads and came up with witty wisecracks. One-liners and catchy jingles were all part of this entertaining event. The winners of Mad Ads were MLSC.

Dramatics events in Utsav this year were all about enjoyment. The crowd, onlookers and judges, all laughed their hearts out.
