Manipal: Poets recited, few debated while a few others got creative with words at Utsav 2008. The events saw participation from various colleges. Poetry was recited in two languages, either Hindi or English.  ‘Akhand Jyoti’, ‘Dil ki Kahani’ and ‘Bhagwaan, Insaan aur Shaitan’ were the topics for Hindi poetry while the English topics were ‘Fresh Air’, ‘The Head, the Heart and the Hand’ and ‘Why Poets Write’.

Jam saw people talking about crazy topics in a minute which was fun to watch, while at the debate, contestants battled it out on the stage debating on the topic ‘Should arranged marriages be out-lawed’. Creative writing could not get more creative with the topic being ‘A Rendezvous With. An Extra-Terrestrial Being’ "It always feels nice to cheer your college at events. It feels great," said Kerban Billimoria, a student of MIC. The enthusiasm shown by the students in these events was seen in the results.
