USEFI joins hands with University

Manipal: Owing to the ever increasing number of Indian students wanting to study in the US, the United States Educational Foundation of India has joined hands with the Manipal University to provide education to the public regarding educational opportunities in the United States. A Satellite Information Centre will be setup for this purpose at the Manipal University Building.

"Manipal University has always wanted to disseminate information and create knowledge; this is one more step towards reaching our goals. We want students from the entire region to know more about studies abroad" says Vidya Pratap, Director of Media and PR, MU. The centre will have an information library which is accessible free of charge. Services such as test registering, test administration and proctoring and sale of study guides will also be offered here.

Currently, USEFI offers educational advising, fellowship support and provides Fullbright scholarships to Indians and Americans. "There are many queries from areas like Dharwad, Udupi and Mangalore and people say that they don't know much about the scholarships. So, we have decided to set up a base here in Manipal. The infrastructure is great here and we can have consultancy sessions through video conferencing also here." says Janaka Pushpanathan, Regional Officer and Educational Advisor, USEFI.

Dr.Raj Warrier, Vice Chancellor of the Manipal University, a Fullbrighter himself, says "The project has been inactive for the past couple of years. We are reactivating the project now; we will be more aggressive this time."
