‘Pioneering Leadership’ key objective for Media research center

Manipal: Manipal Institute of Communication in collaboration with United States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI) has started a Center for Media and Marketing Communication Research. The objective behind setting up this center is to provide pioneering leadership in the areas of media and marketing communication research.
The center was inaugurated in the TMA Pai Auditorium by Manipal University’s Vice-Chancellor Dr Rajshekharan Warrier.

Bridging the gaps between the students, teachers and the mass communication industry professionals, thus creating a better understanding of the practical aspects of work and increasing job opportunities, is a primary aim of the center. “It is an excellent opportunity for students to understand research and provide companies with research information,” said Ryan Rego, final year MIC.

The inauguration of CMMCR was followed by a seminar on ‘Research methods in Social Science: A Global Perspective’. The moderator for this seminar was Dr. Sandhya Rao, a professor from Texas State University. Present along with her, were D. Simon George, a professor from TAPMI and Ms. Bharti Naik, a former associate producer for CNN, New York.

More conferences and seminars have been planned for the future, while the research oriented work to be carried out in the center is said to be highly beneficial for the faculty and students of MIC.
