Lounge Piranha performs in Manipal

Manipal: Lounge Piranha, a Bangalore based rock band, mesmerized the crowd on Sunday evening at club Enigma, in Manipal. The band, consisting of 5 people, played a few of their original tracks causing great enthusiasm in the crowd.

The show began at 7 in the evening when Sand Monkey, a Manipal based rock band, hit the floor to set the mood, by playing tracks like Game On and Toxicity.

Lounge Piranha used two new instruments, called Dijeridoo( an Australian instrument) and Morsing ( Jewish harp), along with the base guitars and drums. "Other than the little problems with the sound system, the band sounds very good. Their music covered it up", said Nabeel, a student of Manipal and one of the members of Sand Monkey.

The event was organized by The Manipal JAM Team, which was formed in February this year. "Me and a bunch of my friends got together and thought of forming this team", said Shonali, a part of the team. "The music culture is dominant in Manipal. So through this team we plan on bringing down more bands of such kind," she added.

Lounge Piranha is famous for its psychedelic rock while Sand Monkey plays just normal rock music. "We finally got to hear some good refreshing music. Generally rock shows here have very few people attending it but this show brought a lot of people," said a rock lover from Manipal.
