Manipal: Jayapataka Swami from the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKON), Mayapur (West Bengal), held a seminar on how to deal with stress at the Old Seminar hall in MIT. As part of an international project, the common men are being targeted here and given lectures and advice on how to deal with stress.

Born and brought up in the US, Jayapataka Swami, is a senior member of the governing body of ISKON. He is also the official Stress related consultant of the FORD motor company. The seminar, which included a presentation, started off with the fundamentals of stress, its causes and how it affects Humans, and was followed a video of the Mayapur ISKON temple.

“This has been organised in a timely manner because today’s youth channel their stress to come out in a negative manner. This seminar will teach them how to deal with it positively,” said Swarup Krishna, 4th year KMC, who was one of the organizers. This seminar was mainly targeting students just before their exams where sometimes stress has a way of coming out through smoking or drinking, even drug addiction. The aim was to help students channel their efforts in a positive direction resulting in better control and more concentration.

The presentation also displayed many statistics as to the number of people who have fallen prey to stress, resulting in health disorders and other problems in a person’s life. It included an elaborate explanation on how intelligence is vital for mental health and stability, which is an absolute necessity to control stress.

The seminar was open-to-all and attracted such a crowd that the Hall itself fell short of space. To gauge the response and views of those present, a feedback form was also circulated. For those who attended the seminar, exam pressure will hopefully be dealt in a more constructive manner.
